Meet Angela
Angela is uniquely qualified to lead and serve the newly drawn Virginia State Senate District 13. Her background, experience, and leadership, will help serve the individuals, families, and small businesses across the new district, which includes urban, suburban, and rural communities.
Angela is a proud Virginian. A native of Richmond, she has been a citizen of the Eastern Henrico Varina community of the district for over 30 years. She and her siblings were raised by hardworking blue-collar parents.
Professionally, Angela is a former banking executive, retiring as senior vice president, following a successful financial services career. She holds the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager professional distinction, skilled in influencing, assessing the impact, and implementation of laws and regulations.
As a banker, Angela was responsible for the firm’s compliance with federal and state consumer protection, and general banking laws and regulations. She also oversaw initiatives that provided lending, community investments and services. Angela will leverage this background to help improve the lives of individuals, small businesses and communities across the district.
As a civic and philanthropic community leader, Angela has a long track record of public policy advocacy on behalf of women, children and families. She has served on the board of numerous nonprofit and community organizations, including as president or chair, lending her financial, regulatory and strategic management expertise. When elected, Angela will apply her collaborative leadership workstyle to achieve results for the district.
Angela has dedicated her life to servant leadership. Her life experiences have shaped her courage, compassion, and character. Angela is running for State Senate to make a greater impact on her community, be a strong and compassionate leader for the citizens of the 13th district, and to help improve the lives of all Virginians.
Priorities
Angela continues to speak with citizens and community leaders across the new district. Being deeply rooted in the community and involved in the broader region, Angela has access to wonderful people with great ideas. She will collaborate with them to prioritize and fight for funding and other resources for the district to support each other, and shape a shared vision of where we want to live, work and play. Initial priorities focus on:
- Economic Development and Jobs
- Affordable and Sustainable Housing
- Healthcare and Reproductive Rights
- Education
- Public Safety and Justice Reform
- Human Services
- Environmental Justice
- Regional Cooperation
